Eighty posters were presented and the best ones were awarded prizes. The posters were divided into 2 categories.

Senior category
In the senior category, the following 3 prizes were awarded

Golden Award (sponsored by Lonza Biotec) awarded to Dominik Luthy, Zurich University of Applied Sciences, Switzerland, for a poster, “Novel approaches to the design of processes for enzyme production with recombinant Pichia pastoris”

Silver Award (sponsored by Unimills) awarded to Teresa Gervasi, University of Messina, Italy, for a poster, “Development of probiotics to combat Clostridium perfringens”

Bronze Award (sponsored by Zentiva-Sanofi Aventis) awarded to Jiri Kucera, University of T.G. Masaryk, in Brno, Czech Republic, for a poster, “Anaerobic ferric iron reduction by acidophilic biomining bacteria”

Junior category
In the junior category (PhD students) 3 prizes were sponsored by Sigma-Aldrich (vouchers for products of Sigma-Aldrich) and 3 prizes were sponsored by Elsevier (books with a biotechnological theme).
